Globally Oriented Architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia

Bernardo Fort-Brescia, FAIA, an architect based in Miami, Florida, helped to transform the city into a globally recognized center of architecture by designing projects that reflect its convergence of cultures. His childhood in Lima, Peru, which included trips to Europe, exposed him to international architectural sensibilities. After earning his master of architecture from Harvard University, Bernardo Fort-Brescia moved to Miami. He established Arquitectonica with a group of like-minded architects two years later, and went on to spearhead the firm’s expansion throughout the United States and internationally.

When he arrived in Miami, Bernardo Fort-Brescia saw a city with potential, grappling with its status as a declining resort town and an increasing population of immigrants. He realized that Miami served as a point of entry to the entire United States, drawing people from both North and South America. Embracing the multicultural status of the city, Mr. Fort-Brescia designs buildings with a universal appeal, containing elements from worldwide architectural styles.
